I only popped here briefly, but I'm glad I did! A whole stall of fresh ingredients and deliciousness sits around two huge paella pans bubbling away, making gorgeous smells to make you salivate!
The stallholders were friendly and polite. I tried the chicken paella with chorizo, which was wonderful! The chorizo was juicy and flavoursome, the chicken tender, and the rice was tasty and soft. It was also surprisingly filling for what you first may think of as a small bowl.
For the quality of the food, the price is very reasonable. I'd go here again if I was in the area! -

The first food stall that I had chance to visit at Altrincham Market was Belgian Bar Paella Stall. I could smell the food cooking as soon as I arrived and I must be honest I was eyeing up the Chorizo for quite a while!
I haven't had Paella since I was in Spain earlier this year too, so I was eager to try it here!
Crowding around the Paella pan, the gentleman serving us was lovely, happily chatting away to us Yelpers and other members of the public - so friendly! And he must have known I was a Chorizo fan as he loaded up my bowl with lots of the spicy sausage without delay.
The Paella was great - seasoned sticky rice with fresh ingredients and you really got the flavour of the chicken and the chorizo. The portion size was great for a small taste, although I would have happily eaten more! -

Paella isn't something I'd usually go for. Often served with seafood, it can be quite bland, lacking in any kind of 'kick' - this paella, however, has shown me how good it truly can be.
Served with some friendly chat, the paella comes from the large steaming pan, and can be served with chorizo. And who doesn't want chorizo as part of their meal? It really was a delicious portion, really stick rice, which I love, and packed with flavour from the chicken, vegetables and chorizo, which was lovely and crispy from the grill.
They have other options on offer, including a particularly impressive looking chorizo roll, and the adjoining Belgian bar is a great little spot to pick up a range of interesting sounding beer, either to enjoy at the market or take home. The mulled wine was lovely and warming, if a bit too sweet to have more than a small serving.

The smell of their paella filled the Altrincham Market, how could you resist.
A great hot treat for the cold Winter months. Nice large pieces of chorizo and chicken to fill your belly whilst you enjoy a beer from their stall next door or a wander around the other retailers.
Wait, you feel like another drink but the warming paella is all gone? Look no further the Belgian Bar is located just opposite the market and has a roaring fire which can be felt even on the second floor mezzanine. -

Love, love, love paella - it's one of my favourite dishes - so when I heard we would get to try some at the markets, I was overjoyed!
While people were still hanging around the flower demo, I was already tucking into to some tasty chicken and chorizo paella. The guy and girl serving it up were super friendly too. Couldn't do enough for me. As for the food itself, I couldn't fault it and ended up clearing the bowls of other yelpers who couldn't finish theirs, much to my delight.
All I'd say is that it was a little on the small-portion side for £4. The mulled wine (not great if I'm being honest) and hot spiced apple vodka (delicious and extremely moreish) were also £4, which I think is just too expensive for market prices, especially when a mulled wine at Manchester Christmas Markets is £3.50.
I'd eat the paella and drink the hot apple vodka any day of the week though. Divine.
